During our storewide 2 sales a year, all items in the store are marked down to 50% of their original price point, regardless of their consigned timeline. These sales are always the last weekend in February and the last weekend in August. It is a great time to purge any last remaining seasonal items
Consignment is a fantastic way to redirect your clothing and accessories that you no longer use. It allows you to pay it forward to our community of fabulous women in Portland. Whether you love recycling, or have a few shopping mistakes in your wardrobe, we are here to help you. Our store offers a warm environment for both our consignors and shoppers to buy and sell contemporary designer items in excellent condition.
Part of the success of our business is that we are highly selective. Let us help you identify what items work best for our consignment process. Click on the links below for our contract and for a sample of recently featured items that sold in a single day.
Consignment is accepted during our normal business hours, from 10-6 Tuesday through Saturday. No appointment is necessary. We will look at them right away and let you know what will work before you leave.
Any overlooked issues (dry cleaning, repairs, or steaming) will incur appropriate service charges and will be deducted from your account.
Consigned items are left here for a 3 month cycle, items cannot be returned early per the contract, no exceptions.
Consignors earn 50% of the selling price. If an item sells for $499 or more, the consignor earns 60% of the selling price.
We do our best to price items competitively in the resale market. Prices are not determined on the spot. We always research comparable items in the current retail market and price accordingly. Highly coveted designer bags may be priced higher due to demand. If you remember how much you have invested into an item, please let us know and we can take that into consideration.
All consignors’ information is completely confidential.
Once you have an account with us, you are welcome to check on the status at any time. Credit can be used at any time. Checks can be issued upon the request of the consignor no more than once a month. Otherwise checks are issued at the end of the 3 month cycle, or earlier if all items on account have sold.
All consigned items follow the markdown process in the box below. The only exceptions to this rule are our jewelry and our luxury handbags (bags priced over $499), with only one markdown each. Luxury handbags are marked down 20% after one month with no additional price reduction after that. Jewelry is marked down 20% after two months, with no additional price reduction after that.

WAS THE ITEM PURCHASED IN THE LAST 2 YEARS?
We specialize in the most contemporary items. Accessories may be an exception to the age limitations.
DO YOU SELL FINE JEWELRY?
Fine jewelry sells best with an appraisal, we recommend Pacific Gem Lab. www.pacificgemlab.net. If we send an item out for appraisal on your behalf, a $60 charge will be applied.
WAS THE ITEM CLEANED SINCE THE LAST TIME YOU WORE IT?
We do our best to only take in items that are in new, like new or excellent condition, free of stains, holes, or odors. If you would like us to review items before going to the expense of dry cleaning, we can do that at any time. If we do the dry cleaning on your behalf, we will charge $9 per item, $15 for coats and gowns.
IS THIS SOMETHING THAT YOU WOULD WEAR HERE IN PORTLAND IN THE NEXT 3 MONTHS?
We only take items in that are seasonally appropriate. Our seasons follow these parameters.
Spring: March-May, Summer: June-August, Fall: Sept-November, Winter: December-February
WHAT CONDITION ARE YOUR SHOES IN?
Are there any toe prints, shoe pads or scrapes in the leather of your shoes? Any flaws need to be repaired before consignment. Our favorite shoe repair in Portland is Derek's shoe repair, www.dereksshoerepair.com. He does a beautiful job restoring handbags as well.
SHOULD I LEAVE MY ITEMS ON HANGERS?
Yes. This helps us see your items easier and keeps them in better condition. Exceptions to this rule are sweaters, jeans, and all accessories. We will always switch out your hangers upon acceptance so you may take them home with you. If 5 or more items in you group need to be steamed, a $1 per item steaming charge will be assessed to your account.
CAN I MAKE A SPECIAL REQUEST?
Due to volume, we are no longer able to take special requests. We recommend signing up to receive our weekly blog reminders which includes fabulous new items we've recieved during the week including, but not limited to, Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Gucci, Prada, etc.
IS THERE A MINIMUM OR MAXIMUM NUMBER OF ITEMS THAT I CAN CONSIGN?
There is no maximum but to start an account we do need more than 1 item unless that item resells for $99 and up.
WE DO NOT ACCEPT INTIMATE ITEMS.
This includes lingerie, nightgowns, swimsuits etc..
WE DO NOT ACCEPT FUR COATS.
WE DO NOT ACCEPT BRIDAL WEAR.
IS IT RIGHT FOR CONSIGNMENT?
At the end of the 3 month contract, consignors have 3 options:
CONSIGN WITH US
DONATE YOUR ITEMS
We can donate items to the Assistance League www.portland.assistanceleague.org with a tax write off in the consignor’s name for the full amount that we marketed the item for. This is a great way to get the best value for items that are donated.
RETURN YOUR ITEMS
Items can also be returned to consignors within 2 weeks of their expiration date. Items not retrieved within that timeline will be forfeited to charity.
CONTINUE MARKETING SOME ITEMS
Aside from options 1 or 2, Seams to Fit may continue to market select designer items on our online store at competitive online market prices. We also may put these items back on the floor during our twice a year sales.
